CHURCH AND SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS
The “One Child, One Hour, One Church, One School” model is at the heart of KIDS HOPE USA. It works because churches have freedom within the KHUSA program model to make it uniquely their own. They are the ones operating and funding the partnership, giving them the ability to recruit volunteer mentors who will be faithful to their commitments and loyal to the KIDS HOPE USA program.
And it works because KIDS HOPE USA costs the school absolutely nothing and leaves the principal and the teachers free from additional responsibility. With no time or financial commitments required from the schools, it meets their urgent need for an effective, proven intervention to increase the academic skills of their at-risk students—without straining the schools’ budgets.
Finally, it works because there is strict adherence to the principles of separation of church and state. All church participants are trained to abide by the guidelines developed by the U.S. Department of Education to ensure that the KIDS HOPE USA program does not violate these principles.
